ArtScreen, Theater Art Systems and SilverStar Big Hits at 2008 CES

Huge crowds visited Vutec’s booth at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 7th through 10th - and the attention and “oohs and ahs” centered around ArtScreenTM and Theater Art Systems featuring the SilverStarTM screen.ArtScreenTM, which has received numerous awards including the Multi-Room Audio Video Award by the Consumer Electronics Association, transforms an LCD, Plasma TV or video projection screen into an elegant work of art - one of a large selection of Giclee (canvas) fine art prints - or photographs. Inside a beautiful hardwood frame, the desired artwork ascends or descends with the touch of a remote. When the display screen or television is not in use, the digital art-on-canvas image of your choice is displayed within the frame. When the artwork is retracted, the video display is again visible for viewing.

Two variations of ArtScreen are: the CineScape Series, available for front or rear video projection screens up to 45″ in height by 106″ in width. Custom sizes can also be accommodated; and The SoundScape 360, Vutec’s second-generation ArtScreen designed to accommodate the new single speaker surround sound technology. Integrated into the ArtScreen housing, SoundScape 360 features a fully dimensional sound compartment that can be positioned above or below the video display. SoundScape 360 is available for Plasma or LCD displays from 32 inches to over 65 inches in size.

At the 1800 square foot Vutec booth, a mini-theater was constructed, showcasing Theater Art SystemsTM featuring the SilverStarTM screen.

Vutec’s CEO, Howard Sinkoff, said that “We’re on the crest of a growing wave in upscale demand for innovation in home theaters. Theatre Art Systems transforms any room into an instant Home Theater. It combines framed high quality art with an automatic vertical masking system and SilverStarTM, our patented high definition-high gain front projection screen. SilverStarTM is Vutec’s is a truly a high definition screen returning an image six times brighter than the average screen in the marketplace. This derives from its innovative, technology - a silver base material combined with multiple optical layers to provide a gain of 6.0 and a full horizontal viewing area. This increases both color saturation and contrast in controlled or uncontrolled light.

Vutec’s president said that in the last several years a dedicated media room has virtually become a standard feature in high end homes and high-rises throughout the country. “The beauty of Theater Art Systems, said Sinkoff, “is that it instantly converts any room in the house - family room, living room, bedroom or den” into a home theater. He added that home theaters aren’t centered around just viewing movies.

The artistic feature of Theater Art Systems speaks to increasing consumer demand for versatility and beautification. Transforming a standard video projection screen into one of a large selection of Giclee fine art prints - or photographs - inside a selection of beautiful hardwood frame. The artwork ascends or descends with the touch of a remote.

When the artwork is retracted and motorized up, it reveals a SilverStar 2.35:1 format CinemaScope movie screen. This screen in turn is masked into a 16:9 HD format which motor up or down on both sides.
